DHA Prometric Exam Rules & Guidelines

Preparing for the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licensing test requires more than just studying! You must also follow strict DHA exam day rules, DHA Prometric rules, and DHA guidelines to avoid delays, disqualification, or cancellation of your exam.

What is DHA Prometric?

Prometric is the official testing partner authorised by DHA to conduct computer-based exams globally, ensuring fair, secure, and standardised assessments for healthcare professionals.

Documents Required on Exam Day

You must carry the exact ID documents listed in your exam confirmation email. Any mismatch can lead to immediate denial of entry.

Essential documents:

  • Original valid passport
  • Exam appointment confirmation e-mail
  • Government ID (if specified for your location)
  • DHA eligibility letter (optional, but highly recommended)

 

Important DHA guidelines:

  • Your ID name must match your Prometric appointment details.
  • Expired passports, digital copies, or laminated photocopies of ID’s are not accepted.




Dress Code & Personal Items

Prometric has a neutral dress code policy focused on safety and identification, and violating it may cause delays during security checks.

Recommended dress code:

  • Comfortable, unelaborate clothing with no superfluous layers
  • Absolutely no jackets, hoodies, large scarves, or bulky accessories
  • No caps or hats (except officially approved religious coverings)

Allowed personal items:

  • Prescription glasses (which will be checked)
  • Light sweater with no pockets
  • Water (only if the centre allows – often not allowed)

 

Not allowed:

  • Watch smartwatches
  • Wallets
  • Large jewelry
  • Any hair accessories larger than 1 cm

Prohibited items being confined to personal use must be kept in the centre’s locker.



Biometric Verification

To maintain test security, candidates must undergo strict biometric and identity verification before entering the exam hall.

  • Digital photo capture
  • Palm vein or fingerprint scan
  • Signature verification
  • Personal belonging check
  • Biometrics may also be required during breaks or when re-entering the exam hall.

 

Exam Hall Instructions

Once inside the exam room, you must follow all DHA Prometric rules without exception.

 The key instructions are as follows:

 

  • Follow the proctor’s instructions on seating and timing.
  • Do not use hand gestures or speak to other candidates.
  • Your computer screen, desk, and chair cannot be adjusted without permission.
  • Only the on-screen calculator and note board provided by Prometric can be used.
  • If you need assistance, raise your hand to call the proctor.
  • All activities are monitored through CCTV and live proctors.

 

During the exam:

 

  • Read each question carefully
  • There is no negative marking.
  • Save your answers periodically.
  • You may not leave the room except as permitted.

  • Fit watches, fitness bands

  • Food, drinks, chewing gum
  • Warm jackets and scarves
  • Recording devices
  • Metal items exceeding allowed dimensions
  • Medication without order

If you bring any of these items, they must be stored in lockers provided by the center; failure to comply may result in exam cancellation.



Break Policy

Break policies do vary based on your exam type and centre location.

General Guidelines for DHA Exam Break:

  • Breaks are not guaranteed unless the exam includes scheduled breaks.
  • If you take an unscheduled break, the exam timer continues running.
  • You have to undertake biometric verification once you get readmitted.
  • You are not allowed to use your phone, bag, or any notes during breaks.
  • Speaking with other candidates during breaks is strictly not allowed.
  • Always check your appointment confirmation for centre-specific break instructions.

Consequences of Malpractice

Prometric strictly enforces DHA guidelines, and any violation is treated seriously.

Malpractice includes:

  • Cell phones use
  • Questions copying and discussing
  • Trying to shoot the screen.
  • Impersonation or fake IDs
  • Using notes or devices to cheat
  • Attempting to access unauthorized areas
  • Speaking during the test
  • Not following the instructions of the proctor.

  • Summary termination of the examination
  • Cancellation of test score
  • One-year ban from reattempting DHA exam
